I reviewed 35 studies to answer the question: When children do not sleep well, are they at a higher risk for mental health problems?

All studies agree that all children at every age who are not sleeping well are at a higher risk for adverse mental health outcomes.

A new 2022 Canadian study of over 2,000 children concluded that “High sleep quality was consistently associated with better mental health.”
